ABOUT US
OUR STORY
Golden United launched in May 2017 when we gathered residents from different backgrounds and asked them to identify shared values and initial actions to expand understanding and collaboration across the community. Since then, we continued our mission through community forums, rallies, annual events, task forces, and teaming with existing groups to amplify their efforts. Since 2019, Golden United has continued convening open-ended discussion forums on various topics, while also deepening its work on bringing people together to solve difficult problems in the community. For example, recent emphasis has been given to the work of the Golden United Housing Task Force in advancing solutions for maintaining affordable housing consistent with Golden’s character and to supporting the work of the Golden Anti-Racism Collective on actions to achieve racial equity and justice. Golden United continues to use public education, civil dialogue, and grassroots organizing to develop and support collaborative solutions for issues causing community tensions and is currently identifying other areas where it can contribute to addressing community needs and priorities.
COMMUNITY
We bring together people from different backgrounds and with differing views to enable listening and understanding to solve problems. With over 1100 subscribers, the Golden United community comes together to participate in events and activities designed to strengthen this “Small Town with Heart” and build strong, lasting relationships with our neighbors.
PARTNERSHIPS
We team with various organizations across Golden to support and amplify their efforts to serve the community. Recent partner initiatives include mobilizing funding for Rent and Utility Assistance and providing business assistance webinars in the wake of COVID-19. Other partners include the City of Golden, Salvation Army Golden SEU, Golden Chamber of Commerce, Golden Civic Foundation, BGoldn, School of Mines, Leadership Golden, Golden Rotary Club, Golden Anti-Racism Collective, religious institutions, and more.
